My love of drawing started early with a pad of paper and a pencil that followed me everywhere I went. Even though life managed to pull me from this passion for many years, I feel blessed to come full circle and revisit this childhood love affair with traditional colored pencil, ink, or charcoal design and presentation.

In my quest toward my true north, I draw. I draw pets because they have soul and whimsy, and their antics make me smile. I draw other things because the muse tickles my imagination and nudges me to create. I create to fulfill a need in someone – perhaps me – perhaps you. Art is my happy place, my true north.

Color inspires and especially the contrasts in my surroundings. Arizona is full of color and stark contrasts. Nature and people are my favorite subject matters to capture. My goal is to inspire viewers to see deeper than the surface.

Sometimes appearing whimsical, as the viewer looks deeper, they may find a more complex story line.

Being a big animal lover, one of my earliest pieces was an oil portrait of my dog. I dabbled in human portraiture as well and took a stab at still life, but nothing gave me as much joy as painting my sweet puppy. Shifting from oil to colored pencil a few years ago, I now combine my new favorite medium with my love of realism and furry friends.

Flowers are beautiful and have many meanings. They bring us back to nature,
ground us and put us back in balance. Because I have a strong love of color, shape, and design there seems to be nothing more vibrant than rich nature color playing against garden shadows or desert landscapes. Floral shapes are abstract wonders, and their variety is infinite. Download Bio & Portfolio |

I am very new to the art of colored pencil and have a passion to bring colorful images to life. I love and appreciate the beauty in simple, ordinary, everyday things. I am a colored pencil artist, living in the southwest desert of Arizona. I have always loved art. I also love wildlife, animals and nature. My sources for inspiration come from the Sonoran Desert, numerous desert outings and my home rose garden. I love the challenge colored pencils offer in that the colors do not mix with one another. Rather, they layer over top, giving a different depth and dimension to the piece.
